2020 Legislative Orientation

November 17 & 18, 2020

In-person at the State House on November 17 and Virtual Video Conferences on November 18

NEW: Pre-Orientation Groups at the State House also added for the week of November 9

Congratulations on your election to the 2021-2022 Session of the General Assembly!

The New Member Orientation program is scheduled for November 17-18, 2020. November 17 will be in-person at the State House in Montpelier with appropriate distancing measures and required facial coverings. November 18 will be a virtual video conference day.  Orientation will begin at 9:30 am on Tuesday, November 17 with light breakfast snacks available beginning at 8:30am. Please note this is a revised scheduled from what was initially distributed in October’s Save the Date.

In addition, Pre-Registration Groups have been added for the week of November 9. You will register for a 3 hour morning or afternoon time slot at the State House and will be assigned to a small group to receive your iPad and review important IT, payroll and security details.

The purpose of the orientation program is to provide you with information on the organization of the Legislature, its procedures, caucuses, committees, budgeting processes, scheduling, and many other matters relating to your service in the General Assembly.  It is also a chance to meet some of the Legislature’s staff, and one another.
